[Javascript] Mail confirmation??

Hello guys,

Could you plz. tell me how mailing system works. when we compose a 
mail and send them to the concerned person with confirmation of 
delivery(return receipt tick box), we do get a confirmation when 
the recepient opens his mail box. I would need similar codes that 
can work on asp/java script.

The codes on my webserver should be executed in such a manner that 
I can send messages to my Mail server when there is an updation 
and likewise get confirmation of delivery.

Pls. advise on the above.
