No. JavaScript is made to only function with the Browser Window container. It intentionally does not have access to the operating system or other applications on a user's system. This is one of the built in security features of the scripting language. However you may be able to use JScript (a Micro$oft scripting knockoff) to access the user's system, if it is a Windows based system.
