[Javascript] modal windows anyone?

Netscape DevEdge has an article about it; it's pretty old, so there may be
a better way. There may also be an IE-specific way.

Hi All,

newbie type question.... it is possible to have a modal window system in
JS... i.e click on link opens new window, window then performs some
operation (say a calendar) and then returns a value to the calling window.
