[Javascript] controlling layer visibility from another page

hi there,

i am trying to control layer visibility when clicking a link from =
another page.

i have a series of text based menu items which i would like to access =
from external links. i created the layers in dreamweaver and need a =
script that will force hidden layers to show when accessed from another =
page.
