OK I figured it out. The thing that surprised me was that I thought an applet was confined to the screen space given by the WIDTH & HEIGHT of its APPLET tag in its HTML file. I didn't know a PopupMenu could go over those boundaries. Now that I know it, a tiny applet seems like a really useful way to add menus to HTML pages. There are some DHTML techniques for menus, but they don't look so good and have really bad portability problems between browsers. - Mitch > -----Original Message----- > From: romain@xxxxxxxx [mailto:romain@xxxxxxxx] > Sent: Thursday, November 30, 2000 7:17 AM > To: advanced-java@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Re: HP Java applet > > > hm, > what's the problem, > just attach a java.awt.PopupMenu to the applet, > add the listeners you want and, have fun, > > Sloot. > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Gart, Mitch" <mgart@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > > To: "Advanced Java (E-mail)" <advanced-java@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > > Sent: Wednesday, November 29, 2000 2:28 PM > > Subject: HP Java applet > > > > > > > The HP Java applet at > > > > > > http://ovweb1.external.hp.com/nnminteract/nnmhotspotsjava.htm > > > > > > looks really good.
