Can one set the File Permissions in Java

I am creating an application that requires a Log file, that should Not be Delete-able by the client. I can not see how to set this file as Read-Only, or even Hidden. My Application is only required to run on Win32, so a Native solution is not out of the question (although undesirable). Thank you for any help provided.
