JSSE problem

I've been trying to use the new JSSE API and can't get very far. The
included sample URLReader.java is supposed to demonstrate a simple
program to read a secure web page, such as https://www.verisign.com.
However I've tried several secure URLs and always end up throwing an
exception, usually "untrusted server cert chain". (and this, going
against such public sites as https://www.sun.com)

So much for having it work without my knowing much about it. Skimming
through the docs hasn't enlighted me much. Could someone please help me
out here?
