Signing Applet - DSA/RSA?

Hello,

I have developed an Applet which connects to a Database Server, different
from it's Web server. The applet was initially using the Java Plugin 1.1 .
There was no security issue,as the plugin can be set to "UnrestrictedNetwork
Access".
Now i have to run the applet in Java 2 environment and the Plugin for the
same does not allow this without the Applet being signed.
I would like to know whether the Applet can be signed using DSA or should it
be signed using RSA. Does the plugin recognize both or only RSA?

Has anyone come across a similar problem? Is there any workaround?

Thank You in advance.
Vidya.
